Golf is not just about hitting the ball, the golf course, the bag of clubs, the kart and the caddie boy. Above all, golf is history; it is a game with a rich past that dates back to the pastime of English aristocrats on a perfectly trimmed lawn in front of the Scottish castle of Ardgowan. The first woman golfer is believed to be Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots. In the twentieth century, golf traveled as far as the Moon! In February 1971, Alan Shepherd, the captain of the Apollo 14 spacecraft, shot two balls. In 1974, the putter used by Alan when playing in space was donated to a museum.
